You can bet that your child is going to be offered student credit cards at least during his first year or two in college, if not before. As a parent, you basically have two options – you can wait until he’s applied for several cards and is showing off his buying power, or you can take the initiative and help you child choose the best card for his particular needs. Finding a good credit card is only half the work you should do as a parent. A young person isn’t simply born knowing how to handle credit. He’s going to either get his lessons from you or he’s going to make his own mistakes. With that in mind, take time to help your child start off his credit right.
